This horror movie is not only terrifying, but the actual story is also very enjoyable, which is something that many horror movies often lack. This movie follows a bunch of middle-schoolers who get terrorized by the clown Pennywise and they must eventually come face to face with their greatest fears. 2. The Ritual (2017)

This is a supernatural horror and will have you on the edge of your seat. This movie is a British film shot in Sweden which means the actual scenery is beautiful. This movie follows a group of friends that go on a hike in the Swedish mountains. Unfortunately, they get lost in a forest full of secrets on their way back from the hike. The ending of this movie is quite surprising and will have you guessing until the end. It is very creepy throughout and will have you looking over your own shoulder. This is one of Netflix’s must-watch movies, as they definitely struck gold with this one.

3. Hereditary (2018)

This is a psychological horror which means less jump scares and creepy monsters but there is a reason why this movie is on the list. Firstly, Toni Collette is absolutely brilliant in this movie and her acting is on point as usual. Secondly, the ending is not predictable, and you will be wondering why certain things are happening until you reach the very end. This movie follows a family that lost their daughter to an unfortunate accident, but not all is as it seems and soon the whole family is ripped apart.

4. The Nun (2018)

This movie will have you shaking in your boots! The nun is exceptionally scary, and the jump scares will have you jumping for a while, as you try to calm down. This movie follows a priest and a novice who is on the verge of taking her vows and their journey to investigate a nun her took her own life at a monastery in Romania. Evil forces are afoot at this monastery and it is the young nun’s duty to try and stop it.

5. Carrie (2013)

This movie has a brilliant cast, namely Chloë Moretz, Julianne Moore, and Ansel Elgort. The ending of this movie is also satisfying, as some bullies end up getting what they deserve. This movie is about a young girl that realizes that she has some special powers. At first this seems like a great opportunity, but eventually, this ends in a lot of horror scenes.

6. Mama (2013)

Mama follows two young girls that are adopted by their uncle and his girlfriend after their own parents pass away. The children are not alone however, as Mama is looking after them in the shadows. This horror movie has a solid storyline and creepy enough for any horror movie enthusiast to enjoy.
